Hi, I'm renting a Red (hope to buy someday) for a project in 2 weeks. I'm on a PC using Premiere CS3 and Matrox Axio. I plan to upgrade my system to 64 bit/CS4 with the Red plugin when all that is available, but I won't have that ready for this project.

So I'm just trying to shoot 3k 30fps (for smoother motion, thought I could do 24p if that helps a lot) on a RedOne and output as Targa or QT or whatever and then rerender that in Premiere into the native Matrox uncompressed 1080p 10bit .avi format.

So far my tests have yeilded a little bit of jitter in the final movie. There are so many variables in camera frame and shutter rate and output settings. I'm wondering if anyone has done what I want to do and can recommend camera and RedCine output settings to result in a good 1080p PC movie.

Thanks for any help offered.

Thanks for that Stefan. I know I can't use the plugin yet, but it seems there is a way to do it now.

I have RedCine installed. I can open the footage and export it in several different formats. Many of these formats open and play in Premiere and After Effects CS3. So that is a workflow that gets me the footage.

But I've been having problems, primarily that there appears to be a a little vibration in the footage even when the camera is not moving. This is after converting it to a real time playable avi. So I'm wondering what settings to use to export from RedCine that will show motion correctly in Premiere/After Effects.

Also, the footage looks noisy when first opened in RedCine. I've set the project to display full res. High.

For right now I have been exporting my footage from Red Cine as quicktime in either motion jpeg A or RAW depending on what I plan to do with the footage. Make sure that your project settings match your output settings. I have not exported to an avi from red Cine, didn't know that was a possibility.

I think I've got this worked out. I've gotten rid of most of the problems and hope to get rid of the rest with another test. I'm not sure what I had RedCine output set to before, but it looks a lot better now. Still seeing some noise, but I'm confident I'm on my way to working the kinks out.

As long as you have Quicktime installed, which you must have if you can export in jpeg A and Raw, you should be able to bring it in premiere. Can you view the files in just the quicktime player?
