I was trying to make a point that the ability to exceed the 12-stops exist already with Red One - it is not a "new thing"...
:)

Why did Jim's latest post (the brochure with the Epic, Scarlett, etc.) list Red One and SS35 as 12 bit then? But then again, it lists the Red One max fps as only 30fps.

Holy Cow!
Merry Christmas
How can I say RED I liked you before but now I simply adore you in a completely non gay manner?
This is the best news EVER!
Now I can't sleep, thank you very much red. (it's 3am already here)

I think if the specs improve, the tone on the forum will be very different then the last time.

I can't see any Red One owner whining. Who would want to trade down to a Scarlett? $4500 for a sensor is very fair. And a new body and new sensor for 10k plus modules is more then fair too.

I think Jim nailed it this time.

We'll just have to wait and see.

(And if they do whine, they need to be bitch slapped until they come to their senses.)

Sooo.. I read the "stops" articles - thanks guys. I'm clear on it now - but I'm having trouble putting "stops" into perspective when talking about a digital sensor. You know when Jim would post things like "we threw in a couple of surprise stops in the latest firmware". How does that translate into the traditional "stop" you deal with on optical cameras?

I don't think he meant the same "stop", but maybe he did if he was saying that the firmware allows Red One to record 11 stops instead of 10 stops, for example.

Not yet 3rd here Jon, but our UK followers are there, and I feel like it's the 3rd...

Will all sensor upgrades for RedOne be $4,500? :w00t:

More than half of the world is on the 3rd right? Hell if India and China alone are already there...
