  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone Selling Rain Covers Yet?

We are looking for one as we are shooting in Kazakhstan where its 100 degrees at one point and 20 minutes later its pouring rain with no warning.

I know there are some in development and some prototypes floating around, just looking to buy one ASAP.

If there are no RED rain covers out yet, has anyone used a different one with good luck and compatibility?

Thanks

Don't know if you may have found a solution to this. But this was also addressed in another thread: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=13833

There are some pictures of the cover from CamRade on Page 6 of that thread.

I recently used a Arri SR3 raincover flawlessly on a Music Video for "Every Avenue' Involving lots of watergun fights and slippin slides.

The reason I avoid plastic bags is because of humidity but I understand the need to " make it happen any way you can".

yesterday I used the rain cover for my Aaton Prod on the RED and it worked perfectly, i could even focus off the monitor remotely using the little perspex windows on the cover.

Here are some pics of my CamRade rain cover. Overall I'm very happy with it. (I apologize for the quality of the pics. I was in a rush, in low light, and didn't have a flash).

Plenty of flaps and openings and yet it seems to seal quite nicely. Easy on and off. Plus it has vents for the fan, with a kind of mini canopy that sticks out to cover them (you can see it in the pics, side middle toward the bottom).

Of course the front of the setup still needs to be protected (lens, follow focus, matte box). This is strictly to protect the sensitive electronics.

Also, if you use the ET EVF mount you'll notice that it will still work, but the ET mount must sit outside of the rain cover.

We are working on additional protection for the front to protect the lens, follow focus, matte box. We will keep you updated.

Rene

Hi Rene,

Could you also work on modifying the EVF cover to also stretch over the ET mount a bit more to cover it from rain? It would be bad to have rain seap into the mount and cause rusting.

Would the additional protection for the lens, FF, and MB be part of this WS RED kit?

Thanks,

Norm

Sorry guys, I overlooked this question , i will look into the request of modifying the EVF cover. The raincover will be delivered with the covers for the EVF and the small LCD screen. If there is a demand we can provide a separate 7" LCD raincover. Soon we will also ship the covers with extra long lens protection.

We still have the IBC special available ( about 30 units left ) if you need a raincover be quick and ask for the IBC special !!

Hello!

We have decided to carry the CamRade Red Camera Rain Covers. We're expecting our stock in the next week or two. As soon as we have something on the website I'll post a link.

Before we decided to carry these, we got one as a sample and sent it out for a test with one of our customers who owns a Red Camera. He reported back to us that he really liked it, and that it was a solid design, which led to our decision to go ahead and bring them in. Although we are waiting for the covers to arrive, we do have one in the store (the sample we received) that you can come try out and see in person, and we can accept orders for them.

Please contact me if you would like a quote.

Have a good one!
Catherine

Hi,

I had to purchase two sets simply to get the EVF and LCD cover although I have to say that the body cover is utterly useless for the set-ups that we are running!!!!

How can you attach a FF to the snoot of that design? The ones we received had a round neck for the glass and didn't allow for either FF nor closed of with Mattebox!

It looked like it was designed for a video lens and hasn't been used once since we shoot RED's feature style.

I would like to know wether the design has changed or whether your guys tested the cover with a RED/ Video lens without lens accessories.

The backend of the cover is acceptable (difficult with the overly modular design of RED anyway)

Was a little dissapointed about Rene who got in touch with me but never answered or followed up any of the feedback I gave him.

Am sliightly disgruntled about having spend so much money on two tiny pieces - EVF and LCD cover

Just my 2cents

Best of luck

Put me down for one- I have the small cover which will not work with the 7" screen I have.
