18-85mm Delivery Woes

First off, please understand I am wonderfully excited for this new addition to the lens lineup. It's that fact that I was recently told & immediately sadden by the Red Team that we would have to wait over a year to receive our new lens when I in fact ordered it almost a year and a half ago.

I know there is much excitement out there for this product as it's slowly making its way out the production doors. So I guess I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but if there is anyone who has ordered it much longer ago and is not interested in picking up this lens anymore might you perhaps PM me and we could perhaps work something out that makes every everyone happy?

Whoa, you've been told it's over a year from now till you get your lens? Or do you mean the New Year?

Well I was told Fall of '09.

We are ramping up production as much as possible and hope to be out of backorder in the next few months. As Jarred mentioned before, these are not a "mass production" lens or something, the manufacturing and QC process is quite time-consuming.

Oh wow! My apologies to Red Team, perhaps my contact was misinformed about its status but as I read Fall 09' in his email my heart sank immensely. I have used the lens and love every inch of its illustrious optics so I am quite anxious to be shooting on it again. So if we're in fact only a few months out & not several then that's wonderful news.

No worries. Fall 2009 is a very, very conservative timeline and, as we have posted in other areas, we hope to speed up production to beat that kind of timeline.
