RA's histogram and FCP/Color's waveform show about 5 IRE difference. FCP/Color's waveform shows higher level. Why is that?

It's not a big deal for the projects that go through grading, but there are clients that don't have time for CC every now and then. Just curious to find out how reliable the histograms in RA/RC are.

Any thoughts will be appreciated!

Best,

It's just the smile emoticon looks like a laughing one on this forum. I don't know why they don't change it.

Hi Gunleik,

Thanks for your friendly advice, but I didn't see any mention about my question above in the whitepaper that Red recently published with the FCP/Color support, unless you meant another whitepaper?

There is a mention at the end about the way that Color interprets the files (0-1023). I'm not sure what would make the difference. Maybe a luma waveform plots a different max based on how it is derived from the individual RGB channels compared to RA?

That actually makes sense. Thanks for your thoughts. In that regard, I guess there's no way to use RA/RC for the final YUV-based deliverables.
