  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet - 16-160mm f/2 C-mount zoom lens

It's meant for a camera with a larger sensor. That's why it's affordable. Larger sensors are more forgiving of Glass.

Why do you assume that? Lots of "C" mount video lenses are meant only for 2/3" or even smaller formats. Some (even most) don't even cover super sixteen.

It's not about the size of the sensor it's about the resolution. Sure you can put a lens meant for a standard or high def def 3 ccd 2/3" camera on a 2/3" 3ccd camera with a bayer sensor. But if the image is soft and has chromatic aberrations don't come complaining to me...Blame RED

Does any one have any examples, stills or footage from a setup with
this or similar lens? I'm wondering how bad can it be.

Cheap lenses meant for SD or security cameras will be soft. Stay away from any lens with a TV label on it. Those are security camera lenses.
But the true HD EFP 2/3" glass is some of the sharpest there is, it has to be to resolve HD on such a small chip. It is also not cheap.
16mm or Super 16 premium glass would work better on Red since it is a focal plane sensor.
