I'm renting a Red Drive and shooting at the biggest college football game in the country tonight (OU vs. Texas Tech). Couple of questions.
This footage will ultimately end up SD/HD
-I want to shoot at at least 60fps, so I know that means 3k. Is 16:9 my best option considering end result is SD/HD? Any issues I should consider?
-If I want to jump to 2k and 120fps are there any issues with switching resolutions on the same drive or CF card?
-Can a CF card be mounted at the same time as a Red Drive?

I'd shoot 16:9 provided that you can get the frame rates you want.

You can mount a CF and RED-DRIVE at the same time.

If you do that, the RED-DRIVE has the priority. i.e it won't record to both at the same time.

Make sure you format both media to the same project TIME BASE though...

Same comment about switching from 2K to 3K, make sure the TIME BASE stays the same, and the camera will be happy.

Do a couple of tests today and let me know if this is all working for you?

Finally enjoy the game!

So the time base has to be the same on the media? Can't switch mid stream? In other words, whatever I start with I'm shooting w/ until I reformat the media?

That's correct David. You can still go into Varispeed mode though and shoot your 120fps. Just make sure you leave the TIMEBASE framerate you set under CONFIGURATION alone once you start.

You could use 4KHD mode as well...
