Can you use P2 cards with the Red One? I asked Red this question and they would no give me an answer - is anyone using the P2 cards for acquisition?

No... it's a completely different Codec. I don't think you can get anything other than MXF onto P2 and RED is REDCode. The only option would be to use the 720p output and record to the portable P2 recorder.

Actually, it's not a Codec issue. P2 cards don't care what data you put on them. They are nothing more than standard 32bit PCMCIA CardBus storage with a custom identifier ROM. The custom ROM image is what makes them a P2 card and you can only use Panny or Panny licensed P2 media in P2 devices.

As I said, P2 is 32bit PCMCIA Cardbus. RED has not supplied an interface to the camera that allows for this type of media. Do not expect them to. PCMCIA is a legacy format at this stage. Performance is also a problem. P2 cards mostly don't offer the performance needed for RED. And the camera obviously contains no code to attempt to use such media.
