Dear RED brother & sisters,

For those interested in small preview of what 617 workflow may feel like - Just to give You an idea - 28K 617 at 24 FPS will require 35GBps pipeline... Single frame is 1,568,163,332 bytes, or simply put 1.46 GB...

I am uploading now a full 28K 16-bit image taken on a 617 camera (Fuji GX617) on a Kodak E200 diapositive film stock. It will take few hours and once it is done I will post a link here. In the meantime feel free to download a full-res JPEG file by right-clicking the link below the image (the JPEG alone is 92.5 MB). Please respect my right and do not forward this image to anyone and do not use it for anything else, but Your personal workflow testing. If You would like to print it - please ask me for a permission...

Nice Peter, good to get a perspective of what is to come, some serious recording media will have to come to be when the EPIC 6-17 will start delivering.

BTW. Definitely going to NZ soon and want to visit that inviting green forest, among the other locations you shot that you showed me, and an other great excuse to visit to say HI to the other PETER:)

ciao

Holly smoke, that's serious stuff. I don't think my eyes have this many rods and cones.... Looks like my garden, actually :w00t:

I can only imagine the wall prints You can get out of this baby. I do envy Your garden Pawel - I am stuck here in a middle of desert with no natural greenery anywhere in sight. The air is so dry is killing me - especially after coming from 95% humid south Mexico. This is going to be the toughest thing for me I have to adjust against. I think I will fly out to NZ every other month... :D

Very nice.

To give you an idea below is a picture crop from the actual pixels size 279999x9334.

Sweet! Thanks for the goods Peter!

What do you supppse the "fully resolved" resolution will be of the 28k sensor? Put in another way, 3k is to 2k as 28 is to __?

If the Graeme's Woodoo Magic in interpreting Bayer RED sensors sticks - we can expect about 20K resolved detail. Ironically that would make this image that much more like what we can expect from the 617 EPIC, but I know it's going to be much, much better... :w00t:

I recognised that as New Zealand immediately without even needing to look at the ludicriously large image (which I won't load, as broadband here isn't a wondrous as our scenery).

That is absurdly large. Really. Crazy.
