I have a question which has to be absolutely basic or just plain stupid... so I thought I'd post it here... for some reason it felt like the right place.

Anywho...

If you shoot 3D.. say with two 2/3 scarlets at 3k... do you get a bigger picture or will your footage remain at 3k through post?

Remain 3k for stereoscopic, but if you want a wider FOV, you can connect the ends/or merge them together for a bigger picture or get greater HDR!

It will remain at 3K. It will not become a 6K image if thats what you are referring to. You will have two images that when converged properly create a 3D effect via Red/Blue glasses or polarized goggles. Two images recorded to represent the left and right eyes.

Yup... I thought so guys but I had to ask... I never actually looked into it before... thank you guys!

Now, just since you mentioned it Ayoji, I doubt you can get a higher HDR from two cameras that don't share the same lens.

I can see the 6k panorama working out without too much hassle using that 3D plate, and especially if the brains actually lock together somehow... do we know if they can do that?

Good question!
