  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Can you imagine the checkout room for Scarlet Parts?

It will be easier to check out a RED One Camera Kit.

Plus college NLE's can't handle the 4K+ workflows.

Veni ante 3K!!! Vidi la HD!!! Vici la DV!!!

Rufus Duo

P.S. RED Two in Pig Latin is "Rosco" ;)

I have said for a while now that Red One trade-ins should be donated directly to film schools around the world.

I think Red should donate to film schools. A while back, I went to take a tour of the Radio, Television, and Film department at the University of Texas at Austin. I was pleasantly surprised to learn whole labs donated by AMD as perhaps they wanted the department to do their compute intensive rendering on their Opteron line of processing (if I remember correctly), which AMD were aggressively marketing. I also went to the Kodak seminar held at the same department as Kodak were aggressively trying to market the DI solution as superior to digital camera acquisition.

I talked with several professors and students and was quite surprised to learn a general snobby attitude towards digital acquisition as the professors did not want to contaminate the field of film studies with "data wrangling".

Those Profs will be seeing RED soon if they don't retire first. Storytelling is still the most important skill they can teach whether 70mm, Epic, RED One, Scarlet, HD, or SD... but I was just pointing out the potential difficulties of trying to rent or checkout a Scarlet/Epic Kit vs. a R1 Kit.

By the time you add the other support gear, it's probably not going to make that big a difference and besides college kids are strong and can lift the now "bloated" camera weight of the R1. ;)

P.S. Veni Vidi Vici will be my Epic's nickname

P.P.S. Please read Jim's Post on how R1 will best Scarlet
