There seems to be no advantage to buying a Red One after these new beasties start shipping. Will the One be shelved?

I hope not, cause I'd still buy it over the new stuff...
Hopefully, the whiners will start to ease off and think logically.
"Scarlet will have limited format options."
...uh oh....that's what I was worry about. Does that mean we will not be able to change to a lower resolution and get higher frame rate out of a Scarlet S35? Is it locked at 5 and 6K....with 30fps maximum no matter what?
Not necessarily. If the processor in Scarlet isn't as heavy-duty as the one in RED-ONE or Epic (in order to keep cost and size to a minimum), then it makes sense that there aren't as many format options in Scarlet.i didn't think so before Jim's post. That would seem like an odd handicap. Must wait for more info.
Scarlet will NOT have all the capabilities of a RED ONE. It can't given the size constraints of the boards in the "brain". If you want flexibility and choices... upgrade your RED ONE or upgrade to an EPIC.

R1 is a hero cam and pice of history, and I'll never trade it in. .. but I'll probably get a Epic S35 too![]()
I think in 10 years I will wish I had a Red One body sitting on the shelf in my home theatre / man cave / hall of fame.
Second thought, people will probably still be shooting with them!
