The announcements seem awesome but I worry about my little 'ole Red One. Seems like you can now deck out a Scarlet and get better specs than the R1, at a cheaper price. I don't think I want to give my R1 up so quickly - Show me some stills!! :ninja:

Like I posted elsewhere, I'm not worried. Technology never stops, never will. At some point you have to take the plunge, otherwise you'll always be standing on the diving board waiting and hoping. I'm glad to have the system I now have and know it will be profitable for years to come. Like my first Nikkormat, I'll always have a special place in my heart for the Red One because it was the camera that changed everything for my work. When the time comes for an upgrade (which won't be anytime soon) I can switch to a newer system and receive the full purchase price of my present camera towards a new one. I have NEVER had that option with anything else I've ever owned. So, it's all good.

Hi,

I think it was an unrealistic dream that a piece of computer technology would never become obsolete or prices would not fall. I personally have never saved any money with Digital still cameras over film cameras.

Hi,

$12,000 is going to look rather expensive, 12% of Scarlet is not that much.

What's the word, anyway???? I can't get into RED.com. . .

I feared for our RED One investments. . . I guess my fears were justified????

Yeah.... I JUST pre-ordered a RED ONE a week ago, and now it isn't compatible with the new stuff. Also, as was mentioned in another thread, the Scarlet seems to do 3K at 120 fps....

What happened to Obsolete Obsolescence or whatever? My camera hasn't even shipped yet :)
