Hi!

I am in the process of buying an used RED One and have a few questions left.

I browsed a lot in these forums recently and would like to thank everybody who is sharing their knowledge and experience on such a young project like that camera.

As far as I got to know from several threads after receiving the second hand camera one can send it to RED and have it evaluated, freshened up and then having a 90 day warranty on it for 500 USD.

Now what still wonders me is:

1. Can I use this process to transfer the ownership as well? Like registration name, e-mail address the updates are sent to, number in the reservation list perhaps for EPIC?
2. Can I send it in when my number comes up in the upgrade programme (sound board etc.) and have it evaluated for warranty after that immediately and thus the ownership (as far as it goes regarding 1.) transferred? I just want to avoid shipping the camera twice.
3. Is the process of transferring ownership (the 90 days warranty thing) possible at the UK facilities of RED as soon as it's completely up and running? Shipping from central Europe, where I'm based, would me so much easier than overseas.

Hope that someone can clear me up on these points.
I am happy that I am going to join the RED family in a few day.

Regards from Vienna, Xax

Hi,

As cameras are available from Red without waiting you might do better to buy yourself a new camera unless you are getting a large discount on buying used.

Hi Stephen

as I am in Europe and I don't have a company yet, I would have to pay VAT and Customs plus shipping which would come in at around 7000 USD more than what I would pay for a used one. I can think of a better use for those 7000 Dollars :)

Hi Vienna!

When are you gonna buy your RED? that's very interesting,
what about your schedule to Hong Kong?
drop me a message then I can get to meet you there,
I am right now in Guangzhou.

Cheers

stephen is right imho.
you still have to pay the VAT...
i would buy a new one...the customs were around 500 USD for me. (paid around 30-32k to red)
better paying customs and having an one warranty then 3 months.

i would understand your choice if it is a very low serial and you are interested in getting epic fast.

Well it's #4xx and as said, I would save around 7000 usd and get a LOMO Lens set converted to PL for free with it.

I understand that the warranty is important, but I think that 90 days is ok for me so far.

1. You send to RED to be evaluated ($500 USD) and then after eval, we will present to you the cost (parts and labour) to bring that RED ONE to current specifications. Then you can buy the RED Re-Certified Warranty and that will include transfer of ownership.

2. No, the camera will need to have already had the ownership transferred before sending in for upgrade program. The upgrade program and recertification/repair programs are exclusive.

3. No, UK facility is upgrade facility at this time only.

Hope this helps.

I have 4 REDs here

To exercise transfer of ownership is agoof idea, and shipment back to RED is good too
So far we have been well taken care of ou cameras problem..

The shipment could also get you the upgarde of CF card writer, Audio and access of new Builds
