Is there a posted list of the functions currently available in the SDK? I don't want to waste anyone's time asking for the full SDK if it doesn't yet have the functions that I'd need.

Ditto, can't they at least publish a certain amount of info?

The SDK is not like a free piece of software and it is not public.

It takes alot of time and effort to continuously support every user that signs up. We really don't have the resources to deal with "just looking" (we had alot of those signing up) or people that aren't serious about using the SDK.

Deanan, what we're asking for requires no support, just a dated PDF that says 'as of this date, the following functions/objects are part of the SDK' and then ignore any questions.

I don't know if I'm serious about signing up unless I know if the SDK can solve what I need it to.

The SDK supports getting metadata and rendering out frames to an RGB buffer using the same basic settings in RA. Mac and Win supported with Linux coming soon.

Sorry, we're can't publish functions or open up the SDK for public discussion.

Oh, so there's no on-camera SDK functionality? That is, the ability to write on-camera additions?

The R3DSDK is for accessing metadata rendering footage in R3D files.
There is another SDK planned which will enable remote control of the camera from a computer.

There is no way to write additions to the camera firmware itself.

That's exactly why I asked the question - to minimize the support and effort required from Red. If you post the function list, we can look at the list before having to ask for the SDK, thereby eliminating direct contact with Red and eliminating unnecessary requests for the SDK package. Many of the people who were "just looking" would probably never have asked you for the SDK in the first place if the function list had been posted publicly.

It's the people who are serious about the SDK who would want to know about the functions before wasting their time asking for a copy of it.

This forum is monitored by all of RED's competition. If I were RED, I would *never* post this to a public forum.

If you are serious, go through the very clear, published steps that RED has detailed they want everyone to go through.

Probably the competitors may still get it, if nothing else then perhaps from somebody who applied and got it. Secondly, I don't know what purpose hiding SDK function list is accomplishing? May be there is a reason, but so far Red has not offered a convincing reason.

I agree, lack of public doco for this seems rather silly.

Regardless, maybe they do have a reason...

Does RED have competition in the Post/Workflow sector? They have competitors in the camera manufacturing sector. I could even see some competition in the file-format areas, but RED has never been concerned about promoting or "selling" their own post solution over anothers.

Might I be so bold as to suggest that this forum is monitored by all of Assimilates competition?

Wait... what? Since when are SDKs function lists dangerous?

I thought that was the point of an SDK. Offer a safe sandbox for people to play in without giving away trade secrets.

OMG! Adobe is out of their minds!

Hi Deanan
I need to alter the metadata from these R3Ds that are in After Effects. Unfortunately they were shot with different color spaces and it's driving me crazy. Let's say I need to set these all to REDSpace-->REDLog with no matrix or curves with an ISO of 320

Please any advice will help us make this much faster

Cheers and thanks in advance
