Hey all-

I outfitted my camera with 15mm gear by buying a Zacuto Jeep adapter and a couple of Zacuto 15mm rods from Abel.

Unfortunately, one of the rods was reeeeely sticky, literally too big for one of the holes in my MB. I just assumed it was new equipment that would get worn down soon.

No.

I now have a 15mm rod STUCK in a Matte Box. What should I do? I feel like a total noob, which I guess I am- I try to stick more to production than camera dept. Unfortunately I own the camera.

So, I guess the Zacuto rod was just HAIRS too big.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

First thing in the morning take it to CSC or your favorite ARRI rental house with at least 1 case of expensive beer. Let them handle it. Leave the beer.

Now that's funny. And I bet it will work. At least it would here.

Actually, we'd take a look even if no beer was involved, but hey.

Well, your welcome t bring it back to us to fix the situation and get a new proper rod.

If you need to get the rod out right away, I would run the point of contact between the rod & the mattebox under hot water for a few seconds and then immediately try to pull them apart. The parts will expand and contract and dislodge from one another. This is also my trick if someone crossthreads a ring in the back of a bellows adapter.

If you're uncomfortable doing this please come on in and we'll fix it for you. Hell, I'LL fix it for you.

Beer is welcome but not necessary. Please call or email me first so I know when to expect you.
