  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sony Lmd2450whd

It's a pretty sweet monitor. We have them in rental (and sell them as well). True 1920x1080. Built in waveform. We also make a nice case and lightstand mount and we're working on a battery mount as well.

I'll try to post a picture tomorrow.

I wouldn't call this an end-all be-all monitor for color correction in a $3M suite, but as a field monitor it is pretty nice indeed.

I'm still curious about this monitor--I can't find a review of it anywhere. Is anyone using it?

its a nice monitor Mac, but not a true grading monitor.
eCinema has a nice grading monitor, but its 35k. I think JVC still makes a CRT that runs around 5-6k, not perfect but better than the cheaper LCD's.

1- I'm curious what the contrast ratio on this monitor is. I don't believe Sony lists it on their website.

The BVM-L230 is 500:1, extrapolating from Sony's slides I saw at NAB. No idea what the 2450whd is.

2- The Editor's lounge conducted a shootout of different monitors (I believe they included this monitor). See some of the comments here:

I have this monitor and it's great. Much better than the Panny 17" line. Certainly "good enough" given that we are shooting RAW and the output of this camera is merely a rough proxy.
I'd highly recommend it. And of course get it from Abel! ;)

Thanks Harry, the check's in the mail.

We do sell and rent the LMD-2450 and it is a very nice monitor. We also have a custom stand for it that can convert with an adaptor that we manufacture into a lightstand mount (mounts to baby pin or junior receiver). And we have a great custom case that hold everything and is on wheels with a clever pull handle designed by yours truly to keep size, weight and cost down. All are included in a standard rental and all are available for purchase.

Hey all, just wanted to let you know that Abel now has special pricing on the Sony LMD-2450. Cheaper thanou'll find anywhere else. It's a great monitor for the RED, switching seamlessly between 720p & 1080p when you go into playback on the camera. It is also a true full raster 1920x1080 panel. We have a full compliment of accessories available for it as well to really trick it out to your liking (see previous post).

Just wanted you all to know -- I really like this monitor and for the price it is an especially great deal. Be sure to try the "Add to Cart" feature to see the new low price.
