  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hot off the presses...

An 8GB card normally takes around 4 minutes to transfer with the Sandisk FW800 reader I use.

Thanks Winzar, this is going back then and they are going to get a bollocking from me in the process. It didn't say on their website it was a 6pin only firewire, i didn't know Lexar did three versions of the same item, USB, Firewire 6pin and 8pin.

Crazy.

Andrew.

BTW, If I'm not mistaken, Firewire 800 (IEEE 1394b) actually has 9 pins (rather than 8), compared to 6 pins on the original Firewire 400 standard (IEEE 1394) and the later released 4 pin version (IEEE 1394a).

Didn't know that Casey i was just assuming, my mistake - i am still a little annoyed with the company that sold it to me and its going back Monday so i can get the 800 version.

Andrew.

We could use some more heat from the presses this Fall.

We are working on the backorder on 16 GB CARDS as we speak. So, press is back to being hot after a brief lukewarm period :)

Ahhh, looks like Brent is lighting the pilot on the heater already :-D

I went down to Red yesterday to have my 18-50mm Red Zoom looked at and when I pulled into the parking lot I got my email for the 16GB cards. That's how I got them so fast.

They are the fastest CFs on the planet right now. About 450x on writes and 600x on reads. Offloading a full 16GB CF was clocked at 2min 34sec (going to a raid drive).

So is that comparable to... 75 MB/s?? Just curious
