  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I know it is possible to trigger the camera to record via an external button connected to the plugs in the back. But I was wondering if there is any trigger coming from the camera when you are pushing the record button? This would for instance be really handy to trigger a video assist into record automatically.

Could you use the record tally somehow ? I think it can be configured on another pin of the same plug.

Smart thinking! It should be possible to do something with that.

Thinking of the tally light I suddenly realise that would be really nice to have next to the directors monitor as well.

I have seen someone setup an Archos PMP (personal media player) which had SD recording capability to record the video tap of a 35mm camera whenever it was turning over.

If you wired the serial remote of a VTR, for example, so that its REC START GPIO input was connected to the TALLY GPIO output of the camera, then you'd get what you want. Not sure how you'd automate cutting the VTR, though.
