New on editing with RED ONE files.

Hi!

I'm currently editing a music video.

I'm using a Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 Gb 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM.

The final output is not decied yet.

But what should I convert to for the offline editing in FCP 6.0?

I basically need help with the whole basic workflow. RedCine? RedAlert? Red Rushes?

I'd suggest you do some reading:

Short answer- you either edit camera proxies with FCP and then use Red Rushes/Red Cine to derive your 'online' or you convert everything to your final online format before editing. (Or you log and transfer everything to ProRes 2K before editing.) I personally prefer the proxy edit because it's a lot faster to get started and leaves your options wide open for the final format.

I'd also look into a hardware upgrade. You'll be ok proxy editing with the medium or low res proxies on that MBP but your final conversions will take a long time. Get into an 8 core Mac Pro at least for that part. Also move up to 6.0.4. and latest versions of OS X and QT.

I probably will not do any grading in Red Cine/Red Alert as we are going to grade the final film at the filmlab (Cutting Edge, Sydney).

How do I online the final film?

I downloaded the Clipfinder? What do use it for?
