I'm desperately trying to find an Instrumental version of Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up." I've scoured the net and come up with zero....nothing.

Anyone know of any sources I couldn't find? I checked gnutella, itunes, bit torrents, google... the usual suspects. There are a few weird techno versions, but I'm looking for Prodigy's own version, only without the lyrics.

thanks a million in advance if anyone can help.

Close! I found that one, too. But it's just a little off. I really need the original, just minus the Prodigy guy's singing (I still want the woman's ethereal voice, tough).

That's my fallback plan, Cinewalt.

There's always MIDI. I got some REALLY good MIDI that sounds almost like live music when you play it through good equipment.

Damn, thanks for trying, Dominic!

My fear is that they NEVER put out such a version. :umm:

Have you tried removing the lyrics using Audition? Haven't used that feature myself, but its in the menu. Don't know if you could leave the woman's voice and cut out the rest though.

It sucks, IMHO.

I think it depends on the frequency of the voice, but mostly it creates a sonic mess when it cuts the voice out.

Doesn't surprise me (that it sucks). Hard to imagine that big a chunk of sound being removed and having to fill the hole with imagined instrumentals.

i'm no audio expert at all, but with an mp3, there are not separate tracks for vocals and stuff, right?

Yeah, it's mixed down to a stereo track and there's no turning back.

If it were a 5.1 version, maybe the voice would be placed in the center and a bit in the front speakers, but that's a thing of the future.

Personally, I don't need more than stereo for music. For movies, yeah, surround and stuff, but let's not forget that we only got two ears. :)

Where do they get those Karaoke tracks? Does someone cut the vocal out or are they simply recorded for Karaoke?

those Karaoke tracks have nothing to do with the original. they are "reproduced," and in this case, shabbily so.

Yeah, they're reproduced. Sometimes they're OK.

I actually found karaokes for Queen songs that were the actual tracks, but with the vocals excluded. I mean, they were real, seems that Queen themselves released them.

Tom, maybe nothing but take a look at the Pod Casts, free on iTunes, from both Above and Beyond and also Solarstone, linked from the Above and Beyond - Trance Around The World podcast pages. Sometimes some massive instrumental tracks from Prodigy and Moby and some other stonkingly good artists come to light.

Good to tap the odd toe to now and again.

Cheers,
Mark.
