Private reasons for selling. As much as I hate to part with it I must.

Not really. You can get a new one for full price in a few weeks.

Besides, they probably paid for it months ago when the Aussie exchange rate was 95¢ so will make an extra 30% now that it's 65¢!

Then they can buy it back when it goes up to $1.10! :greedy:
:weight_lift: :bleh:

Jimhare is spot on...but I think a cool deal for Americans...

I sent you a PM. You're still posting, no reply though.

"Is this the first time a RED is sold for under new price?"

it has NOT been sold ..
it is listed on eBay -ends Nov 9 -thats when we'll know if it was sold for under or over new price ....

Someone who wants to trade in for an Epic can actually buy used and make money. Never thought I'd see that happen!

Just letting anyone interested in buying #241 know, I will only be able to respond to PM's the rest of today and then in three days. I won't be able to respond tomorrow and the following day...

November 9th, just four days before the big announcements. Me thinks the value might jump up on #241. Just speculating.

After Nov. 13th, the price will be lower for sure. No doubts there. After then? Even lower. There are 5000 cameras out there. A crisis to deal with. Too much room for an interesting used market for buying, not for selling though.

Not necessarily. Anyone planning to pay full price for an Epic would be better off buying a second hand RED, even if it's only $500-$1000 under new price.

I don't see why the announcement will drive the price down, they get 100% rebate towards Epic.

Agreed...

You are mistaken. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'll bet anything that after November 13 low cam res holders will see a big premium.

Once again if cameras are shipped at the rate the R1 did, it will be very interesting to see what happens.

Time will tell....:shifty:

My take is opposite.

Jim said it many times that he would look after early adopters. It looks like after 13 of November Red can be shipping without a deposit or wait. In my view, those who waited patiently for the delivery will be rewarded.

How about an announcement of immediate availability of Red One and a price hike to, say $20k? (which is still tremendous value)

Remember, it is also in company's interest to keep the resale value of Red One up. After all, they will probably end up with maybe 1000 cameras exchanged for Epic. If the new price is $20k, they will be able to sell the refurbished cameras at full original price of $17.5k. Everyone wins.

LOL! Wishful thinking for current RED owners.
