  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

first official video...RAP

Looks good!

I like the lighting and background direction. Lots to focus on.

Contrast, with Black n White and some sepia tones is what came to mind to give it a look.

I enjoyed the song.
Felt like a Keith Sweat beat and style.

thanks guys i appreciate the feedback.... i just makes me wonder though. i see people have looked at this thread but haven't commented. hmmm. but thanks for taking the time to watch the video if you at least watched it. feel free to send me a PM if you don't want to comment directly on this thread.

I color corrected a nice even tone with out too much contrast but the person in charge of the final product really really (really) wanted to push the contrast. I'm working on another cut and take out as much of the smoking as possible and also clean up the edit a little more. any suggestions on the second version? editors? directors? dp's suggestions on lighting for my next shoot? i directed and DP'ed...forced to with lower budget. but i like doing it so...this was with a small crew of 4 people

thanks again to everyone for their time.

the green...yeah. artist chose an extreme version of what i showed him initially. on the color correction.

on a side note i'm always looking to expand my crew. i work in the Bay area but want to work all over california. if you know of anybody interested in working with a up and coming director(me) please let me know. looking for experienced DP, EDITOR, and MOTION GRAPHICS/and or VFX person. other crew also. i might post a thread later too.

overall i wouldn't worry much if there haven't been many comments. i think it stacks up with most rap videos i've seen (in the end it could have been pushed more conceptually, but it should stand very well among the usual fare). i thought some of the exterior with greenish tint was a bit much but towards the end it settled in fine...i'll have to watch it again to figure out if the CC differed at all or if my eyes simply adjusted to it.

out of curiosity, what lens(es) did you use?

and of course, loved seeing my reds represented (the other reds...cincinnati!).

this vid makes me want to go to the corner store and buy some swisher sweets...MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

nice work, nice track. i'd say you did real well considering you were wearing the two of the biggest hats on set. would gladly jump on a production with you if you ever make it out to NYC...

cheers!

RED 18-50mm F2.8

its all the (no) budget allowed

Red 18-50

Red 18-50

I'm impressed with what you were able to do with the one Red lens.

We have the same 18-50, but we've been using a Nikon mount with a bunch of Nikon lenses we own to achieve different looks.

Your video makes me want to get back to our PL mount with the Red 18-50.

I'm trying to learn to do what i can with what i have. if i had more lenses i would try and use them but the crew is usually me and another guy helping me move lights. time has been an issue. I worked for univision as news camera man in which i had to be creative in split second and i only ever had one lens to work with. taught me alot about story telling too.

i'm just glad it inspires you to make a change in the way you work just as other people work inspires me everyday.

p.s i love the red.
