Love to see what the Red can do!!

Anybody looking to collaborate on a film - short or feature - let me know.

I have a lot of writing experience!

welcome, Alex. we're glad to have you here.

Thanks. Happy to be here.

Really hankering to do some work with European filmmakers, from the shores of the Danube to the Fjords of the Lofoten Islands.

I'm not much of a techie, but everyone seems to be in agreement the Red is the creme de la creme. So, let's get this kick-butt camera together with my kick-butt writing and make some kick-butt films!!

Hey! I was hoping a familiar face would pop up.

By the way, I have been chatting with the mother of a really talented child actress out of Bucharest, Romania. Maybe we can put together some ideas someday.

Not sure if you were following my script articles over on DVXuser, but I have a publisher lined up now and just need to get all that gibberish into book form, sell it, and use the proceeds for film, and nothing but film!!

Sounds much easier when you say it!!

Glad to be here. I'll check out the link, thanks.

Hey Alex, Respect for what you do. I write my oun stuff and while the overall concepts come easy, the nuts and prick... I mean bolts, process of cohesivety are very hard to screw together.

G'luck mate!

I could not agree more. Ideas are the easy part for some, but that nagging format/plot/character business ...

Texas, huh? I've done two shorts down that way. Really talented young filmmaker by the name of Drew Ott. He's the idea guy, I do his writing.

Maybe we can work together someday... for now I'm in a fetal position, waiting for better times.

Alex, reading the location under your avatar reminded me of a company I received a catalog from about 5 years ago. Called Despair, Inc. http://despair.com/viewall.html

One of my favorites of their Demotivators® was "A journey of a thousand miles often ends abruptly" and the picture is of a grizzly bear catching a Salmon swimming to spawn as it goes over a waterfall.

That's the tough part, isn't it?

Coming up with ideas is pure fun. :)

But structuring a good, working script from the raw ideas is the trick it seems.

I'm afraid of scripts. :nerd:

EDIT: Alex, Scarletuser is like a mini-RedUser forum, dedicated to a new, future camera (RED Scarlet). It will be much more affordable than the current RED One. And also - much better. :bleh:

I'm afraid of scripts too:holloween: That's why I will shoot my oun stuff and then assemble it in edit. Gimme enough footage and I'll give you four separate stories with four separate meanings and endings.

That's the beauty of the RED system and parallel applications. You can truly paint a story without using paint-by-numbers.

Takes longer and you don't get as much art out there under the public's eye, but that's for the big-time company artists to do.

I keep telling myself to try getting behind the camera sometime, or get into the editing side of things, but writing is where my passion lies, much as I'd like to try the others. Maybe someday.

Besides, writing is cheaper!!

Hey Alex, great to have you here. Writing is my passion too, absolutely love writing, but at the moment by brain is in shutdown mode so i cant write which is a bit of a pain. But i managed to knock off four short films in a week before it did . . . and im now in pre-production on 2 of those now.

I wrote about 60 scripts in 4 years for both TV and Film and most of those are sitting here in this computer never to see the light of day. I decided to start directing and producing my own stuff about 2 years ago and it was the best decision i have made so far. I knew nothing (or very little) and have self taught everything and am now confident in almost every area (i did have a little help by being a Model Maker in the industry for a few years which taught me a lot).

Go for it - all you can do is try - but you are right writing is certainly cheaper.

Andrew.

60 scripts in 4 years! That's focus. I tell everyone just starting out you need to practice the craft like a musician practices their instrument. Only way to really get comfy with getting ideas from head to paper. Congrats on the accomplishment.

I think you're right, filming your own stuff is a great way to really bring an idea to life. For the most part I am very happy with what happens to my screenplays one they leave my hands. A few disappointments, maybe even one disaster, but that's part of the collaborative nature of film.

Either way, seeing one's work on film is a huge learning tool to improve the writing, see those opportunities for detail, infer camera angles without stepping on anyone's toes, etc.

My next big quest in Movie Land is to see one of my stories translated into a language other than English. I think that would be great.

anyways, carry on! I'm going to go peek at your page.

Thank you. I put the first 2 years to getting the crap out of me and honing my skills, one year i devoted to 3 TV series each with about 12 episodes, a Political drama a 24 type drama and a mega WW2 series (which I love btw)

I have a few actor friends who give me a hand from time to time and we have read throughs which really helps me - but there is nothing like seeing something up on screen that you made or had a hand in making and seeing what works and what doesnt, im improving everyday.

It's funny you say about writing a script for another language this is currently what i am doing on my secret project hopefully to be shot on Red, but its something that i'm still writing its a lot of research and very difficult cos its a biopic.
