  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is this a 16mm format or 35mm lens?

Thanks for the replies.. what affect does using 16mm lenses have with the RED? pricing is so attractive.

16 mm lenses are made to cover the diagonal of a 16mm photogram (-13mm)


The Red sensor is around the size of a 35 mm photogram,
so, if you record 4K, the image projected by the 16mm lens on the sensor will not reach its corners, the result will be a round image in a black rectangle which can be interesting from an artistic point of view but delicate to sell to many audiences.

so, if you record only on 2K (central area of the sensor) its +- OK,
(super 16 lenses really OK)
But what a waste to use only a small portion of the sensor !

Speaking of price attraction, Nikon or Canon lenses do cover the whole RED sensor and are not expensive as 35mm film lenses.
(but they are not "perfect" for the moving image work where some mechinal aspects are missing)
 
That's earlier Carl Zeiss 35mm PL Mount Mark II T2.1 Lens,
the whole set of these lens are:
16mm, 20mm, 24mm, 28mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 85mm, 100mm & 135mm, I believe it's hardy to find the whole on 2nd market.
but in Hong Kong they are more than 10 sets from the rental and some production.
Great lens! I been work with famous Director & Dop own the whole set,
but he sold them for a production house few years ago.
I used it quite alot for tvc shooting.
