I have some files that opens on Redcine only black i can see, but on Redalert the image look ok . I also have the quicktime version of the files and they also look ok. Other R3D files shot the same day opens ok on redcine. Redcine 3.12 MAC and PC version.

The problem was on the color settings. The only thing i needed to do is put some brightnesss and the black file just poped the image....

It is like a softwarebug. I need to just play with courves or brightness or highlight... and the file shows the image.. if i resetall it goes black again, but if i manualy back the settings to the orignal values the image doesn´t go back to black

We experienced this shortly after build 16 came out on our latest series; what happened is that someone bumped a setting on the camera that made it thru into the meta-data of the clip.

Resetting the camera will take care of this problem on the shooting side, and changing any of your 'matrix' settings away from camera default will ignore built in metadata, and start your own grade, thus disregarding whatever camera setting was causing the black-out. Even just sliding it up, and then manually sliding it back to zero will be rid of your black frame.

It's a little annoying; and boarder-line heart-attack inducing the first time you experience it, but no worries, no permanent damage!

Happy shooting!

Thom you said it rght "...boarder-line heart-attack..." I already passed out the info about reseting the camera. Let´s see how it comes out for the feature. The first was a test/proof... 4K capture redcine to 2k DPX log.. lustre color gradding and Arri2k transfer to 35mm
