yes.

That's way above and beyond the call... Red is unreal. Glad to be here...

wow jim. You are a generous man. Thankyou. If we want to keep our red because it's pretty cool to have such a low number, can we buy an epic in full but get the priority of our low redone number. I would love to keep camera 138 for ever and if it ever gives out just put it on our shelf in the office. This camera means a lot to us and I would not want to lose it, but I do want an epic. Mahalo for all you do for us we all appreciate you more than we could ever say.

yes I read that. But it does not tell me I can keep my red#138 and buy an epic at full price as if I was #138 in line for epic His post says I can trade my red or keep it.

I have a feeling the next question is going to be " can i trade a camera in if my warranty has expired? " .. the answer is yes.

As long as you have not VOIDED your warranty, we will accept back cameras with expired warranties for the trade in.

Thanks Jarred, but the next question was going to be about the CF module in Red One being traded. Should we return the camera with or without CF module? And, if not, whether the (new) CF module is going to work with Epic?

Hey Pawel, it's a bit early to answer that one.. remind me in awhile when we get closer.

Hi Jarred,

So as long as the warranty has expired, one can add an IMS mount without any worries & trade in that camera for an Epic (with the Red PL mount attached), or have I missed something?

NO,
I believe, even if the warrenty is expired, red will not take the trade in for epic, if modifications have been made (that would usually expire a warrenty).
To play it safe... dont eff up your camera

Hi Zakaree,

I won't buy one then as I need to replace the front mount with a bellows focusing unit, like the one on the 1944 Mitchell. I do have a MOCO project in mind where there is only 1 pass required so I could have used a RED ONE, however I need macro 1:1 ability and a T stops in the range T1.4- 2.5. As no such PL mounted macro lenses exist I will have to shoot on film again. Horses for courses as Geoff Boyle would say.

Stephen

Edit it's a shame as I would fit a beam-splitter optical viewfinder at the same time.

What's wrong with Arri Zeiss 100mm T2.1 macro (product numbr K2.33910.0)?

Edit: You can also use Master Diopters with Master Primes or Ultra Primes and you should be able to get 1:1 around 100mm focal length.

Hi,

I like to use wider lenses, long lenses shake too much with camera moves, Master Primes are way too big the lens hole relative to the object is huge, not to mention cost of lenses, the idea would be to spend less money not more.
1944 Mitchell & Nikon lenses are paid for so 'free'. I shoot 500' of film a day & need 1/2 hour of telecine. Total cost of using a Red have to be under $1000 a day or film will be cheaper.

Stephen

Edit,

With diopters I cant pull focus to infinity, so that is not an option in any case. I often want to shoot wider than T2.1, on my last watch shoot half of the shots were at T1.4
