New Music Video for Andre Lipsey (Minnesota based rapper/producer)!!!

Zeiss MKIII Super Speeds

Shot in 3K at 500 ASA

3 man crew - Me (Scott Regan DP/Director/Producer), Ryan Taylor (B Camera Operator/Grip), Dave Taylor (On site Digital Asset Manager)

Video was shot on a budget of less than $1500 over 2 nights - We were all just really stoked to use the camera! My 2nd time using it, 1st time editing and 1st time for everyone else! Thanks to everyone on this forum for all your discussion and to Jim Jannard and crew - we owe you big time!!!

Much love.

You can't go wrong with night shots and RED! Overall very good, and the music too ( I'm not a big fan of HH), just a pity you didn't differentiate the shots more, but that's obvious when you're tight on time and budget.

Cheers,
Alan

1500 dollar budget???? Could never tell. I agree with Alan, as far as shots, but for 1500 bucks in 2 nights, awesome job. I can imagine if you had a real budget.

Can you describe a little bit how you got the look? Lighting/CC in post?

Overall great. Not a bad song either.

Thanks guys!

We used modeling lamps from my strobes (I do photo mostly) and an assortment of china lanterns and household bulbs in photo flood reflectors from home depot. The budget went into camera rental -only- haha!

The post look was applied in Redcine after doing the main cut with FCP and Crimson workflow.

As for our setups - the studio scenes were lit by one china lantern through the glass of the vocal recording booth on Andre (the rapper) and a bare bulb in photo reflector camera right of the guy in the mixing booth. Everything on the roof was based on a 3 light setup - 2 photo floods as edges (to varying degrees depending on where he moved it ended up being 1 edge or a full on side light and then we used a strobe with 250 watt modeling lamp into an octabox for front fill

A lot of the fill was killed in the post processing mainly to reduce noise, but we ended up liking that the best because it popped more than the original scheme

Thanks for asking!

cool look
congrats

haha, nice! great job on such a tiny budget. it really looked like 35mm work, IMHO.

i also have agree with the others that adding some diversity to the types of shots and locales would have been nice, but for 1500 smackers, it's understandable.

rock on.
