Hello All,
I've downloaded the new Beta version or RedCine 3.15.

When I play back a file in RedCine the image is at the correct speed and the audio is around 50% normal speed with lower pitch.

I can not export to H.264 or any other codec with any audio.

Is the the current state of Redcine?

Audio is a new feature. It probably sucks on any platform.

For me, RedCine 3.15 has spent the past 3 days processing footage with zero crashes or glitches.

Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz, nVidia 7950, Win XP.

That computer cost me $500 6 months ago and probably goes for about $250 now ;)

What frame rate is the footage? What was the timebase of the project set to in camera? Do all the REDCINE settings match the camera timebase settings?

Hi Jeff,

I did two tests.

1. Camera at 24fps and RedCine timebase 24fps

2. Camera 29.97fps and RedCine timebase 29.97fps

Both had normal speed image and slow pitch audio. I repeated both tests 2 times with different footage.

I even changed the time base in RedCine to see if the pitch would change in any direction. It had no result. The audio in the camera plays back fine. The camera was not in Varispeed or any stunt mode.

I have a New quad core PC running at 3.2GHz, 4 GB RAM, WinXP Pro and a very fast graphics card.

I have not had problems with RedCine Ver 3.12 and Ver 3.15 works fine except for audio. Audio export through RedCine is very important for me.

Hmm... I don't know then. :-(

I haven't tried the new RedCine w/ audio, but I can probably fire it up tomorrow or saturday and see if I can duplicate it. Hopefully RED can chime in. Have you sent Stuart or someone at RED an email?

I'll give it a try myself. But I honestly haven't touched any RED tools on Windows since getting ahold of redrushes.

Hi Jeff,
I've not yet sent an email to Red yet because I usually feel that they are just overwhelmed with their current workload. I did see somewhere that it is possible that audio export is not yet supported. I was not able to confirm that by looking at the release notes. If you have time to test this please let us know the result. What is puzzling to me is that in addition to the pitch being so much lower, audio sync simply does not apply. I'm not talking about a few frames here - I'm talking many seconds to many minutes of audio sync error.

It's true that audio is not officially supported yet. It's beta. But this is why RED releases beta software. So people can test it and send bug reports back to RED. So far, you're the only one I've seen post about this issue and the latest version of REDCINE has been available for a week or so.

It has been talked about. I posted the day it came out about this issue. For me though, audio on playback isn't nearly as important as audio with exports. So if I were to invest time "fixing" things, that's where my time would be. Just my opinion though.

I've already posted about the huge performance hit with the new Redcine. Audio plays back at a fraction of the speed its supposed to. The version of Redcine prior to this one just flys along. With audio active this new one performs like kicking an anvil through a swamp barefoot. Even with audio inactive its a lot slower than the previous version.
