I have not bought or used cinema lenses before, so I don't know if I should buy into metric or imperial. I can get my head around feet or meters, so for personal use, I am not concerned.

I would like to have equipment that others on crew would be familiar with for follow-focus, etc., and what they would be familiar with. I anticipate that I may be using Canadian and American crew for the most part in the future.

My number is coming up, and I'd like to get it right from the get-go. Thanks for any help!

Well I ordered Imperial. Had the same thought process as you but it came down to me being more comfortable using imperial. Used to do construction :(

:)

Can't ever forget those 2by4s, can't we?

I bought all Metric and I'd say Metric, 'cause a very modern person*, but hey, if you never plan working outside north america, true it could puzzle those 1st ACs...

* I'm from Canada as well but I live in Paris...

Actually, it's funny but they reaaaly don't make houses in the same way. I did work in construction in France when I got here 18 years ago, and everything is different material and all... Concrete, plaster... Never seen a wall section with 2by4s here in my life?! Can you imagine? They make the walls with thick "blocks" of solid plaster, like legos?!... It's pretty neat I must admit...

Sorry for the thread takeover btw...
