  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

i am about to pluck $20,000 on the angenieux rouge (my place in the 18-85 line is way to far down the line) and i am terrified to do so because of the protrusion in the back. i plan to trade for the epic when it becomes available, and want to know that this lens will work. anyone at RED that can answer this?

Jim? Jarred??

Epic will have a PL mount (and other options), so your Angenieux purchase is safe.

All 18-85mm orders will be filled by the time Epic is released, possibly by the end of January.

What happens by the end of January, Jim? Epic release?

Interesting placement of that comma. Sentence could be read that all of the 18-85 lens orders could be filled by the end of January or that the Epic might be released by the end of January.

Just teasin'. ;-)

But that is a LOT of lenses to ship out in five months. Nice.

Could be that RED is making its own universal lens mount that is going to be introduced on Epic.

Together with other great features already announced before this would make

Epic the most versatile and powerful digital cinema acquisition system on the Planet.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

thank you for the prompt answers. but i should have been more specific about the question. it was not about pl mount or not (i figured it would be a pl mount) but more of a question about the protrusion in the back that keeps that lens from working with film cameras, would that be an issue with the Epic. basically, is it going to have some kind of prism or revolving mirror, or something that may not clear that protrusion? that is my concern here. since that lens will only work on the RED ONE camera i have now, i did not want to completely paint myself into a corner.
