  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New monitoring thing in B17

Yes it would (or could based on your ISO choice) so this hence choice of a RGB Histogram and RAW meter as the default meter setup.

i understand, as a default is a good choice, but what if i care more about what's really been recorded by the sensor rather than my clipped highlights i see on my EVF using Redspace?
i fear people underexposing trying to be highlights conservative basing their judgement on what they see on the RGB Histogram in Redspace mode.
What i am proposing is just an option/user preference to have Redspace (or whatever) view outputs and RAW Histogram at once.
Is that possible?

You can get close to that feature right now. Just map a user button to toggle the "RAW view" on/off and the histogram will adjust itself to reflect the RAW exposure. Toggle back and forth as desired.

What I meant was: the colors themselves don't change positions on the scale, correct? e.g., the red is always on the top bar of the scale, and blue is always on the bottom?

That is correct

There seems to be a discrepancy in what the raw histogram shows and what this new thing displays. The raw histogram can be unclipped and the new thing is jumping between 3 bars and 5 bars with a change in exposure that is so minimal that there is no noticeable change in the histogram. Which is more accurate?

Explain please ?

I was sitting with the camera, waiting to put it on the crane. The camera was pointing at some trees with some sky in shot.

The histogram was showing no clipping, but was fully exposed to the right. The new thing (please give it a name) showed 3 lights, the highest being green. I could move the camera very slightly and the orange and red lights would come on. The strange thing is that the histogram was unchanged, no clipping lights and no white line at the right beginning to rise.

I really like the raw historam. When I have a very high contrast scene I try let the white line rise to half way in the sky. I know I am losing information in the sky, but I also know the is something there that can be used.

I don't quite know how to do that with the new thing.

Also, is there a way to get the histogram out of the video tap. I had to climb a ladder quite a few times to set exposure :)
