Haven't heard much in a while about the ETA of the Element Technica shockmount for the RED Drives or the handheld kit. Anyone have any further info?

Element Technica DriveMount and HHK Update

Element Technica DriveMount and HHK Update

Almost there!

We have finally completed our shock-isolated RED RAID Drive Mounts as well as the Cheesestick Handle and Extension for the EVF Mount. We are in the process of taking photographs and writing product descriptions for our web site. We anticipate having all three available for purchase through the web site by this weekend.

Our Hand-Held Kit is in production. About 70% of the parts are complete and awaiting assembly. The rest of the components are in progress with roughly 2 weeks to go. We will be updating the site with complete Hand Held Kit information including availability, pricing, specifications and images in the next 7 to 10 days.

If anyone would like to be notified by e-mail when any of these items are available, please sign up for e-mail notifications at http://www.elementtechnica.com/contact/

Here are few shots of the Drive Mount configured to mechanically isolate a spinning drive.

Thanks for the update & pics Stephen. With the drive mount - is a tool required to remove the drive from the cradle? i.e. would it be quicker to have 2 cradles per camera so you just pop one out of the mini-V-lock looking thingy and swap it with another that has a drive already bolted to it?

Groovy...

Stephen, I dropped you a note via the "contact us" as you prescribed. My trigger finger is on the "submit wire transfer" button as we speak.

Thanks- Andrew

a hand turnable screw to secure the drive is essential in my eyes

I'm a step ahead of you Andrew. I sent in my wire transfer over a month ago!

ET Shock Mounts

ET Shock Mounts

You are right that it is a good idea to have one shock mount per drive. That is actually how the system was designed to work. The idea is that you would put one drive mount on each drive, which allows you to make use of the V mount quick release that is attached to the drive mounts. Once you have a drive mount on each Red Drive, you can now swap drives in seconds. There will even be a package available of three drive mounts and one Speedy Clamp/V Dock for $950. Each drive mount is $250 and each speedy clamp/V Dock is $250 individually.

The drive mounts ship with two nylon tipped set screws, but ET will offer a thumb screw kit that will allow quicker removal of the drive mount for those who want to use multiple drives in one mount, but its not the quickest solution.

Also, when the drive mounts start shipping, there will be hardware included that allow it to be converted into a lower profile rigid mount for use with the upcoming Red Ram Drive.

If I knew the prices, I could wire the money in the morning!

Steve,
The most important thing is.......

When will the Drive mounts be actually shipping?

Regards,
Dave

The ET V-lock clamp design looks very similar to the bogen 386B NANO CLAMP that I bought to mount the RED LCD and RED Arm off of the rods. I love that Bogen clamp so another one that allows me to mount the REDDRIVE anywhere on the Rods within proximity of the cable restrictions is awesome!

I agree the ET clamp look similar to the Bogen Nano Clamp but I would bet you dollars to donuts that the ET clamp is way way better.

I love the Nano Clamp as well (I've somehow ended up with four of them) but I just know how ET works...

They probably already are. They just aren't on the website yet. I'm sure it is much easier for them if you wait for the online ordering process though.

".....When will the Drive mounts be actually shipping?"

Rang ET....the issue is,

if you have a breakout box or evf mount included in your order, the whole order will be delayed as these items are on backorder...seems a couple of weeks.

I can concur that the best method is to order a mount per drive you own. I have two drives with two mounts on them and I have to say this is a huge timesaver and really makes swapping out instantaneous. The V-Lock mount that connects to the rods is very strong and has good grip which is key with the Ultrarods.

In my opinion, this is the only way to work with the drives safely. I have yet to drop a frame when using these mounts.

And the handheld unit is great as well. I'm a worse case scenario because of my shoulders (boney, beat to hell) present a great challenge to any handheld situation. I think people will enjoy what ET has come up with. You have a lot of ability to configure this to your liking. I'm hoping to have an indepth review of all of this on my blog soon.

i also beta tested the vclamp, drive mounts and battery quickplate swapout. all have been working great and the ease of using the speedy clamps and the drive mounts has been effortless. we only had one initially and it was still easy to quickly swap a drive out of the mount in an extra 15 seconds. we used it on car mounts and tons of various handheld situations and never dropped a frame or even close to dropping a frame. also cant say anough about the quickplate backplate swap. its tons lighter and gives you the same mounting options as the drive as well as mounting it to a ET 15mm top mount for rod mounting laterally.

great stuff and cant wait for the handheld rig and cheesestick!

Where do I begin? First, Thank you to Chris and Steven at ET for all of your help and fantastic products!

Second - the first issue of BLOODSHOT.TV will feature video articles on the handheld unit (THIS IS AN INDUSTRY GAME CHANGER FOLKS!) - Chris demonstrated the remarkable set up for me yesterday. The HH rig can be used on any camera system accepting the ARRI mount and is completely customizable in every regard with ease of adjusting. Utterly amazing -
Also, the shock mount and the EVF extension.

Both products are worth not only the wait but the cost to purchase them. IMO, they are also must haves for camera owners - and users.

**First issue will be free and released on 01 DEC 08**
