Are the 24 mm choice a better one than the 18 mm ?

If so, the Red production pack comes with a pair of 18 mm rods. Is it possible to replace for 24 mm rods paying the difference?

I assume you mean 18" vs 24". The easy answer is to get both. I prefer 24" if I have a long setup (long zoom, matte box, etc.) or shoulder mount, but the 18" are nice too. I recommend getting the default Production Pack then picking up some aluminum 24" rods from Element Technica.

1 inch = 25.4 mm :)

It is always a good idea to have an assortment of different rods for different situations. In the bigger picture, they really don't cost a lot.

18" are fine, 24" you really only need when working with long, long lenses.

EDIT: Shawn was quicker.

For a moment I thought they'd switched the worldwide standard from 15 to 18 and from 19 to 24 :)

For long lenses you'll need the 24 inch, as the mattebox or lens support will need to go further to the front. You can use the 18 inch on top of the camera for extra accessories support.

I'm sorry. I'm just tired and too much focused on mm these last hours. Wanted to say inch and wrote millimeters... :) At least, it has served for capturing your attention, folks. Thanks.

Eh, I beg to differ. I enjoy 24" even when only using my small Red 18-50mm if I am using a full swing-away matte box, handles on front and then the battery cradle on back for balance.

Why not the Red ones?

How much does the Element Technica cost?

Much cheaper than the Red carbon fiber. The ET aluminum ones are much lighter than the Red steal ones.

$10 more apiece, DEFINITELY worth it.

well.. there is who's selling the red ones for $50 each.. does it worth the $30 difference?

Prince bought an used red ones.

what do you shawn think?..

Sorry, I'm genuinely having trouble understanding your English.

Someone bought a used set of rods for $50, and you want to compare that price to $80 ET? Doesn't compare. Most readers here will know that I'm be the first to slam someone for bad pricing, but ET actually prices their aluminum rods well, I am a very happy customer. I think people should get them.

so it worths the $30 difference right?.. no complaints on the et price.. only wondering what's the best choice?..

24" rods..

red (used like new.. $50) ?

or et (new.. $80) ?

Unless someone has a whole pile they are selling at $50 a pair, you shouldn't compare the used price like that.
