Hi,
I bought both left and right handles for the Red one.

Unfortunately, none of it fits perfectly with the rods. For both the handles, tightening screws don't go far enough to tighten the grip.
In the Past, for a number of shoots, I was able to manage with the help of a camera assistant. But, I have a shoot upcoming in couple of weeks where in I don't have an assistant and there are lot of hand held shots.
Can some one suggest me what can I do to fix this, make handles tighten or any other alternatives. I feel sad that $500 for both the handles are going waste.

Thanks in advance
Murali

Did you pull out the tabs away on the wingnuts and ratchet them tight?

You do know that the wingnuts are ratcheting right? Just pull the handle part out on the wingnut and you twist it back to tighten it more. You do have to tighten the wingnuts down ALOT to get the handles to stay, but they will tighten down (now, getting them off is another story.)

Put a second washer on the wingnut. It gives the needed spacing so the non-threaded neck-portion of the nut doesn't get in the way of the threads.

Good God, I was having the same problem, cursing under my breath at the design of the handles and the "fact" that I couldn't tighten them. Ratcheting wingnuts...that explains a few things, including the cost. Game on!

Well, my original RED handle support didn't have the little grooves cut into it and it make no difference how much I tightened things down, the hand grips still slipped on the support. VERY dangerous. (And irritating.) Sooooooo, I just epoxied the handles to the support! And you know what? They ain't a slippin' no mo'.

We tried the handles on the extension handle on a universal mount.
I dont like the fact that they slide on the extension handle and bruise the paint. Besides they slide unless you over tighten the little screws which I think suffer more than they should. More over, the extension handle has dents but the inside of the handheld mounts dont, they could be helpful.

I think this thread should be on the complaint department forum. Its an issue we all have. I

The Red Handle Mount makes life a whole lot easier, it's day and night compared to handles directly on rods.

I have no problems. But I also have the Red handle mount. You'd have to the chest width of Mini-Me to use the handles without the Red handle mount.

From my experience, you have to make sure the crank is on the thin side of the split in the handle so it can squeeze down. If on the thick side, it won't squeeze and it will slide.

Also, the handle mount really helps as it has grooves for traction.
