Quick heads up that MC v.3.0.5 referenced in the step by step guide is now available via the Avid.com download. Avid customers can do this through their nornmal methods. I will let everyone know as soon as the QT component is available via a direct download.

Hey, Michael. Any ETA on the direct .R3D import mentioned, or I guess I should say implied, in the press release that came out today. I suppose if you had a timeframe you'd have given it, but... just checking.

The press release was to notify that we have signed the SDK and that is now in house. Once we get through it and map it against our engineering resources, we will have a better idea of what and when.

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere, I'm just trying to catch up on Avid workflow, but does this release fix the DNxHD export in RedRushes?

The new version of the DNxHD codec (which will be included in the MC release, and soon as a stand-alone download) should work with RED Alert and RedRushes.

Yes, the QT installer with v.3.0.5 fixes the encode directly to DNxHD from REDrushes or REDCONE on both Mac and PC. It also fixes the 32bit packed audio issue when importing directly from camera proxies.

Michael,

First, thank you for all the efforts you've been putting in speeding up the Avid workflow solutions.

In the step by step guide you're refering to the creation of new proxies in RedRushes but for some reason it does not create the files in the selected output folder (and I can't find them anywhere else). Do you know what's going on?

Thanks,

Thanks,

it's likely that the redalert package you installed did not install redline. this happened to me once and i ran a different redalert installer to get redline to install.

I just updated to 3.0.5 but i'm still just getting noise when exporting dnxhd's from redrushes. any ideas?

Yeah.... I am trying to get the actual version of the QT codec that shipped with MC v.3.0.5. It seems it was not the right one... AAGHHHH!!!!

Stay tuned.

Checking the installers on 3.0.5 in Other Installers Folder

Media Composer LE and PE dated July 17, 2008
Symphony only has LE dated July 17, 2008

Tried on the Mac with Media Composer still exporting color noise.

Looks like Michael is as surprised as me when it didn't work.

Sorry about that all.. I should hear back on Tuesday (9/30/08) as to the version I can post for everyone.

Make sure you click on the "be in the know" button on the www.avid.com/red landing page as there will be some updates to the Step by Step Guide as well as to the XML tools. We will keep that updated as we tweak, correct, etc.

Michael

Jedi666, what is your process for doing the the Compressor route? I've tried this and gotten the same noisy results as rendering through RedLine/Rushes.

Thanks,
Parke
