First :
We shoot and tried to playback on broadcast monitor, everything runs fine on both HD-SDI output port and preview port with 720p setting. As soon as i change the setting playback to 1080p, playback footage from the camera becomes greenish on both HD-SDI output port. Any idea why is it happen this way ? It's fine on 720p output. Our monitor can support all HD res, 1080psf, 1080p, 720p, SD.

Second :
My EVF has flash occasionally and greenish noise in the shadow part and some blue noise. It's kinda annoying at some certain point...wonder if anyone face the same thing with their EVF

Additional small note :
On the first trial, when we activate the varispeed mode, the camera hung and caused us to reboot. But after that we dont face that problem anymore. Maybe you can check.

Similar issue

Hi Brent,

I have a similar issue while playing back 1080p. My television shows only half of the picture although it should be capable of displaying 1080p.

The playback on 720p is just fine.

Would be great if you could share your thoughts on that
thanks

Are you using HDMI or HD-SDI to feed it the 1080p signal to the TV?

I would like to know if something is up here, I had a similar problem with a RED I used the other day. Feeding a monitor using HD-SDI, no problems on playback but very green with live view.

I thought I was being a n00b but it seems I'm not the only one...

I just experienced the greenish view with HD-SDI output to my HD Monitor.

Reason?

I too have noticed the greenish video on output via 1080P playback. I thought it was possibly a white balance issue (setting white balance of course affects the playback) but I don't think so. Let me know if this is a problem, as it has been one of the workflows I have been tossing around to people. Realtime capture from RED.

720p Preview. I still think mine is a white balance issue. Colors just were not accurate. I need to do some more testing with new footage shooting a clip chart.

Hw does it look when you select Chip Chart test pattern in MONITOR menu ?

Same here.
I was on my first commercial shoot with our own red and suddenly when we played back the first take it was all green. Output from HD-SDI, the first of the four outputs. I believe its HD-SDI 1. All creepy green, had to put it in 720P. Any news on this one?

use 720p preview single link. For 4:4:4 use the other HD-SDI. My issue is definitely different than the ones you guys are having. You should be fine coming out preview

Here as well - monitor fine but greenish stuff in EVF - It would be nice to here if you come up with something on this!?

Nope for me...still greenish. I might want to try dual link. Will see if it's solve it. Definitely in 1080p playback only.

Update :
Build 17 seem to fix this problem. I have no more greenish tint on 1080p playback. Looks good.

after some playing around I can get the EVF to display without the green tinge only if I do the following...

Go to VIDEO/VIEWFINDER/METERS/
Select assists and change to either RGB PARADE, FOCUS ASSIST OR FOCUS OVERLAY. (It doesn't work if you select waveform)

Now hit exit and press the bottom left user button on the evf (or whichever is assigned to activate the assists)

Presto - an image identical in colour to the lcd - no green.

Obviously this is not a practical way to work.

Can anyone confirm that this is the same for them also.

i am not with the camera right now, but the same issue is here. can someone confirm that above solution works for them?

i CANNOT change to build 17 until the end of next month - the cameras are in production right now, so need to stay with 16 - and want to test mentioned solution.

thank you,

filip

My cameras preview out put has always had a green shade. I figured they all did.

I was setting up a big skin care shoot and needed accurate skin tone for make-up, me, director & clients... So, I hooked up my scope and Chroma Du Monde chart and dialed it out.

Here are the numbers that make my camera look good (w/ soft tungsten light):
Wb: manual @3600
Tint: -7
Sat: 0.7
G gain: 0.9

I will have Red take a look at it when I send it in for the audio board fix.

Good Luck,
Rich
