Hi folks
I'm looking for some advice.
We're due to start work on a documentary shooting on Red and I'm wondering about the best format to work with.
We're going to have a very tight schedule and backing up during the day is going to be tricky + due to drive shortages we only have one Red Drive to work with.
The documentary is for SD TV delivery in 16:9, so what format would we be best to use here? I know that 4K will offer the best quality but I'm unsure whether to go with 2:1 or 16:9? Build 17 offers 4K HD which looks great but I'n not prepared to run with Beta software on this shoot so that rules this out.
On several days we'll be shooting for up to 4 hours so this means that shooting 4K is not practical as we won't have the capacity on the Red Drive -with this in mind, what format should we consider? 2K or 1920 x 1080P (we're shooting PAL at 25fps).
I'm unsure what visually we we will lose going downwards from 4K to 2K to 1080P?
any help and advice on this would be appreciated.
Best wishes
Scott
