  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So when's this RED "Pro" glass coming anyway?

Hi.

While all these new ideas around Epic and DSMC are floating around and people are getting a frenzy over whether h.264 will kill off RED RAW in a moment, my biggest question - that aren't realted to RAW access in post for DI suites - is:

So what about this lens program. How are you guys doing? When will we see it?

18-85 is first out of the oven.. "very" soon...

Very soon...so could be a month, or six. And i dare say it'll be the same as the 50-150mm where as there is only a trickle making it out and if your down the list it could be a while, a fair while.

We considered it but to be honest, it's such a hard decision when having absolutely no information about when, how long when they are back ordered before you may get one.

Jarred if you want to squash my concerns please just post it, and i'll eat my words and be happy to chuck some more money RED's way and grab it. But until then i'll plod along waiting ever so, so , so patiently for my 'other' RED lens (50-150mm) and just hire in per job.

After all the nearly, almost, close, any day now, very soon, just about there's that have being floated in the past i am really happy to just see the '2009' release dates for other Cameras. I think this way even though you may not get the marketing bonuses it just means as a customer you will get in sometime in that year. Which i can live with and can make business decisions accordingly.

But heh, if this is my only gripe...who really gives a shit.:)

Don't hold your breath for the 50 to 150 I have been waiting since April
and last I saw on another post was "in the 800s" so If the 18-85 comes out soon that means....I don't know really.

Hey Jarred,

I´ve been told "by the end of the year" by Brian. Would you agree ? I´ve ordered the 50-150mm also, but he told me that would still be "a couple of moNths", so that means the 18-85 is available sooner, right ?

And: Is the 18-85mm from the "Pro" series already ?

Thanks,

Frank

You guys should do a 10mm T2 prime. :)

I still haven't any word on my 50-150 that I ordered AGES ago... could someone make a few of those before we get bogged down on making 30 other cameras and 500 other lenses...

Jarred and Jim.

I'm prime lens guy since 1980's, I don't care any zoom stuff, unless T-stop is under T2.0 is OK.
I'm ready to invest for Zeiss Master Primes, if Red won't give us date.
I can't wait any longer, I hate sending PA to rental house to pick up prime lenses.

When Red announced at this years NAB that they were going to be doing some pro line lenses I had a feeling that I should wait. I'm just waiting for the new 300mm to come out along with all the other primes and zoom. Who knows, maybe the 50-150mm is going to be replaced with something way better...even though that lens is pretty cool already.

I'm wondering why there was no lenses on display at IBC?

When Jarred says "very" soon he usually means weeks. Not months

Jay

This reminds me of the old Alan Greenspan briefcase indicator on CNBC. Someone studied Alan Greenspan so well that they knew the size of his briefcase meant something in terms of interest rate cuts or raises. Interesting! hehe
