Hi everybody.

I've just started out doing some freelance video work for various companies, normally I don't have a problem giving them the final edit. I scale my red footage to SD and put it on a mini dv tape and my clients are always happy with the result.

I started to realize though, what if a client wants the footage in HD? Or even 4k?? What do you pros do to deliver footage. I have a job coming up where I will need to send about 40 minutes of 720p footage to an editing company. How is this done in the industry? Please give me some insight and help! Thankyou everyone in advance!

did you already try the old VHS tape?..

Find out what formats their editing system can handle and use Redrushes to spit it out.

spit it out onto what though? a mini dv tape? i'm sure nike commercials aren't given to the editors on that. how do you guys give a client footage? whether it be 480, 1080, 2k, 4k?

hard drive is probably the cheapest solution for you if the editor is okay with that as you won't have to rent any decks. Talk to the editor and ask how he wants it. Hdcam SR is what most places will probably want though.

I like to print out each frame and number them into a nice flip-book. :-)

Hard drives are how you deliver footage now. You can usually just deliver an inexpensive USB drive (keep backups!!!) that they can ingest into their editing system. Fast and expensive drives are for edit suites, not footage delivery.
