  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How to create a RSX file?

It's created automatically in the same folder as the source R3D.

just open an R3D in RED-ALERT, and check the folder in the finder and you will see it created.

Use of non-clip RSX files in RedRushes seems to be rather buggy at the moment. If I set "RSX Source" to "Clip RSX", everything is fine. If I set it to "Selected RSX" -- and then select an RSX file which just worked fine in "Clip RSX" mode -- I get QT movies of black frames....

SOLVED: Spaces and other special characters in the path or file name of the RSX file are not being escaped in the RedLine script generated by RedRushes. Moving/renaming the RSX file so there are no spaces or special characters in the path solves the problem.

Thanks Chris, I have been strageling with this issue for some hours now, different machines different speculation and such a simple resolution.

Thanks.

Yeah, sorry guys. It's fixed in the next version.

That was heroic, Chris, thanks for posting the solution. I, too, struggled with this for hours and never did solve it. Now I can go back to RedRushes instead of painstaking transcodes in RA, which is what I've been doing...

Any chance that when you know these issues--and especially the workarounds, Deanan, that someone from RED could post about it? Would have saved me a lot of hassle....

I've posted about spaces a couple of times already. In this case, I didn't find out about the spaces till the problem was figured out.

OK, so hopefully this thread isn't too dead, but I had an issue today. We tried Redrushes for the first time as a way to batch process a large amount of footage. Maybe someone can see where I went wrong..

I opened one of the shots needing color correction in Red Alert. It was one of multiple clips of the same interview.

I color corrected the image as needed and saved the profile as a preset in Red Alert.

I then imported all the interview clips into Redrushes. I opened the RSX file that was created in the folder of the R3D clip and set it to you that in Look Source. Set the gamma and color space to Look Source and hit render.

It took what seemed to be a normal amount of time, but he progress bar never really moved much past say 5%. When the first clip said it was done, the bar still had not moved. I was unable to open the clip in Quicktime and the file size was only 480MB. I processed other clips in Redrushes earlier that day with no RSX file with no problem.

So have I done something wrong? I've reorted to processing in Red Alert, but I really wish I cold batch them over night.
