Does anyone have an image that they can share that was shot with the RED and the Peleng 8mm Fisheye?

I'm thinking about buying one.....anyone already have one?

Any dark corners with the RED?

Thanks BIG....I just ordered a new Peleng 8mm Fisheye. I don't see how you can go wrong for this kind of $$. It will be nice to have in the kit.

Nicest thing about that lens is it's a nice wide for 2k slow mo. Mine is great.

I have to agree with Nick.

I use my Peleng mostly in 2K and 3K modes on my RED. 3K 16:9 with the Peleng is a very nice solution for shooting car interiors. Although, you still get the spherical distortion, it's not as extreme as if you would be shooting the full 4K frame. It's all about the look you are going for.

My Peleng doesn't vignette on the RED. In fact, I know it covers the full S35 frame and should still work great once RED enables the 4.5K record mode. I've had my Peleng on an Arri 435 and through the optical viewfinder I could see with the S35 frame in the ground glass that the lens just barely covered the S35 area. Quite good actually, the Century rehoused 8mm Nikkors out there, which are a highly desired fisheye, don't actually cover the S35 frame. Although, the Nikkor is still a much nicer lens. The Century 6mm is freaky awesome if you can get your hands on one of those.

My biggest complaint about the Peleng is the focus ring is right up against the PL mount and is a pain to deal with. You also have to "unlock" the iris by a short turn of an adjacent gear ring in order to change your stop, then re-lock it. Doug Underdahl has some kind of accessory ring that makes this work better, but I haven't tried it.

Thanks for the replies.

I went ahead and ordered a new one rather than deal with someone elses issues....I figured that new was better at less than $400 than a used one at $250 - $300.

I'm looking for the effect in 4K but it will be interesting to see what it does in 2K and 3K. Glad to know that it doesn't vignette in 4K. If it did, I guess we could just push in a smidge. Anyway....it's on it's way.

I have one and I love it for the price!

It's a nice lens to have in your kit!

Can we see some framegrabs, anyone?

The Peleng, for under $500, is just a slam-dunk lens to own.
