I have not been posting so much but reading a lot. Time for payback :)

I worked out a very low budget mounting solution for the EVF which is a huge and heavy piece on the cam and needs strong support, as we all know by now. And it´s the best viewfinder I have seen so far.

I have added a medium Noga arm, I guess others work as well, to the existing arm I got with the EVF. This solution ist not to be compared to the ET mount but for me works perfect for ONE fixed position at a time. Compared to other solutions I have seen here or elsewhere this one only adds the weight of the arm and can be adjusted very easily. Check the pics and let me know if you like it :)

Geez, very simple and easy. Where did you attach the other Noga arm? The one is going in the top handle. That's very evident. But where is the anchor for the second one? I can't quite make it out.

What length is the medium arm????

I'm definitely interested in trying this myself. Good job.

Okay. I see it now. The short arm is attached to the top of the handle, while the medium arm is attached to a hole on the top mount. I'm very anxious to try this out myself! But I need to buy another Noga arm. . . of the medium variety!

Hi, I'm about to receive my evf. Know it's heavy. Do you mean red arm is not enough to support it ?? I had not figured that... Thanks for an answer

Buhot:

The Red arm would eventually be sturdy enough. The problem ist the arm is only fixed with one! screw, so when you apply enough pressure while operating the EVF will definetely come loose eithe on the camera or on the EVF side.

Stephen:

The arm I used on the pics ist about 26 cm (approx. 10,5 inches) long. This is measured to the ballends not counting the screws. I think the arm might be around 150 USD and you mount the EVF basically everywhere within the reach of the cable.

It is absolutely no comparison to the ET mount. You always have to adjust the rotation of the EVF BUT compared to the one arm solution this is very rigid. Just carried the full mounted camera in one of my PB bags and nothing happended to the position of the EVF.

Thanks !! very informative and useful post !

Hey Markus,

nice idea ! Went to ET´s booth at IBC though and couldn´t resist buying the ET EVF mount. Great stuff !!

Well you made a good! investment. You know ET is close to offer a solution that will fit into the ARRI industry series to hold the EVF mount with an EL 3. Senn it on finner knows best. So this definetely the way to go. My solution might fit all the positions you want to use without beeing able to mount the ET solution. And it´s small money.
