Hey guys, this rough trailer was cut last night. Very brief CC. Edited in FCP using the M_Proxy files. Shot & Cropped for 2.40. We shot Monday-Friday last week in Kingmen, Arizona. Was using Red 363 with Nikon lenses. I mainly used the 17-35 and the 80-200. Occasionally used the 50. Did some car mount stuff. Got to take a single propeller, 2-seater airplane up on the last day to get some very difficult to shoot aerial footage. Overall, great shoot with long 15 hour days and a tight crew. We used a few Polito boards, a couple of bounce cards, a few floppys, some kinos and 2 fresnels. Shot mostly to CF card. Everyone is loving the camera. Short should be finished in 6 weeks.

awesome! take a good book, good actors, a small team and last but not least the red one to make a low budget movie a big one. congrats. you did what the camera was developed for! to give a low budget filmmaker`s story the chance for the big screen.

That was a beautifully looking and well made trailer... I've already watched it thrice... lol

Spectacular Job my friend!

Awesome Footage! I have been on that road with the train next to it..very awesome!

thanks. That was MGMT, 'the handshake'. After Ian Bloom's Electric Eel video, I picked up their album. It's quite good.

hi,
This is one of the best shots i ve ever seen for the RED. It is great!. Thank you Richard. (I think you had a Redrock micro Because i think i remember your name in redrockforums.)
So after i see the your shots i am proud of myself for my buying decision for RED:))

Nice work. CC heading in a good direction, I think.

Only have one negative commentary -- kinda long for a short film trailer, hope you didn't give away too much of the story! I'm look forward to the final film!

Looks great. Noticed a few different styles of grades in there. Are you trying things out? Was some of that Magic Bullet?

The 17-35 continues to amaze me. What a great lens. With the new Nikon mount I'm tempted to go to the 17-55, 2.8 but I'm feeling nostalgic about the 17-35. And of course, the 18-200 is fantastic for shooting exteriors without limitation.

Looking forward to hearing more about this film. Keep us updated.

Just trying out different grades. Really rough. I just used the FCP 3-way color corrector on the 1k proxy files. I agree that as a trailer, its too long, this was more of a 'hey cast/crew! look how fast we can show you what we just did!' I will post the actual trailer when it becomes available, as well as potential screen times in the LA area.

Nikon lenses are so underrated on these boards. They are a blessing in disguise. My 17-35 was just as sharp as my Red 18-50. In fact, I enjoy using it more, since its so compact and light. Anyone with a Nikon mount, should def pickup this lens as their starter. I always had 'image shift' issues with my 80-200, but as long as you work around the problem, its a really badass lens. Super shallow sharp DOF with a lens made for a dSLR. Sweet. We mostly shot this whole short with the 17-35 and the 80-200.

Loved it! It looks like its got a fun and free spirit to the piece. Can't wait to see it.
BTW - I think you have the longest fade out for a short film trailer in the history of short film trailers and I'd like to think I've seen a few shorts ie Vuze :)

Hahaha. I can't disagree with you on that. I think time was moving really fast for me when I added those crossfades in.. This camera is causing my post skills to slowly rust away

best,

looks good, some great shots there.

Did you stabalise one of the reverse shots of the car because it's a bit jello? That is one of the real downsides to Red, after stabalisation the skew becomes really apparant.

I am bringing this post back from the dead only because i remember it and i would really really like to see it again. The link seems to be dead, is it uploaded anywhere else?
