Problems with the FCP Viewer

Hi there,

I don´t know why but my FCP drives me crazy.

I edit a big movie project in FCP since a few weeks. Everythings worked fine and smooth. Until today. After the lunchtime I went back to my working station. I changed nothing. FCP was still opened it was the same project, same timeline...nothing happened. So I tried to watch a clip with the viewer and...tadaaaa...jittery playback. But only with the viewer. Not in the timeline. The clips in the timeline are smooth, wonderful...great.

What could be the problem?

My system:
MacPro 8-Core 3GHz
10 GB RAM
4x500GB SATA
GeForce 8800GT
Decklink Extreme HD

My timeline configuration is RT (unlimited), Navigation with High Quality, Quality Dynamic. Like I said I didn´t change anything. For my sequences I use ProRes(HQ). Ah....by the way. I had orange render bars but now its blue...strange. I work with the _H proxies. Even the _M proxies are not smooht in the viewer...just the _P. But thats not really satisfying.

And there is another strange thing. Normally there are some little preview pictures of the clips on the timline. But since a few hours the pictures are extremly contrastry almost like a negative effect. Even if I render a QT file. The whole clip looks like a negative picture. But if I start the timeline preview everything looks fine. Just the little preview pics and the output videos.

Can someone help me plz?

worst case -

copy the sequence into a new project.

Sometimes FCP can act wierd is you have long timelines with many many edits.

- you havnt zoomed into the viewer? - should be max 100%.

difficult to tell...

thx for reply. The first thing I tried was to copy the sequence in a new project but it didn´t work. Same problem.

I haven´t zoomed into the viewer. It´s just 41%

In timeline everything works fine but I can´t watch hundreds of clips with the timeline

Have you quit and restarted? I get the problem you're describing when I change my monitor configuration (add are remove a 2nd monitor) while a project is open. It's pretty likely that its a graphics card glitch.

Hi,

yes I have quit and restarted.

I have changed the settings of the timeline and it is a little bit better. Video quality is still dynamic but bitrate is now higher. It works better but I wonder why. I worked for a couple of months with other settings. But I still have the problem with the little preview pictures and QT output videos.
