What's the best setup for a RED workflow on a MacBook Pro. I just bought it and it has OS X 10.5.5 (which sounds like is not a problem) and I have installed FCS2 on the laptop but I want to know how far to go with the updates and the best order to do so. QT is at V7.4.1 and FCP is at 6.0.

I was looking at the opencut.org resources page, because I entered their first contest to get red footage to edit and finally have the machine to do it. There it says:

RED recommended OS/Software configurations for Mac Hardware

*

Recommended configurations for Final Cut Pro 6.0.2
*

Configuration #1: Intel MacPro or MacBookPro, Leopard (OS 10.5.2) with QuickTime 7.4.1

From what I see though is that to get FCP updated to 6.0.2, you have to use the ProApplicationsUpdate2008-02, but then it says that it updates to 6.0.4 and that you need QT 7.5!

Help! (Is there a FAQ or Sticky on this?)

Oh! and then what other programs do I need?

What about FCP? Is version 6.0.4 okay?

Yes. Don't forget the RED goodies (REDCINE, RED-ALERT, etc.), which you'll probably need quite often... Clipfinder (free for now and brilliant) and Crimson (worth every penny, unless Apple comes out with Color/R3D support tomorrow).

I'm doing fine on a MBP with OS 10.5.5, Quicktime 7.5.5 and FCP 6.0.4.
