  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

my EOS "smart" mount...

Ok, thanks for the replies guys. here's are some concept renders I did last night
for the control box interface, I am concidering having a control knob for the fstop +/- instead of buttons? what you all think?..
And to answer a few
questions. yes the advanced controller will have a focus knob. still working on
the implementation of it. as soon as this is out, the advanced controller is getting finished up, I'm waiting on component parts for it now.
Also I do have plans to make the mount work with the P+S Technik. nothing concrete yet, but sure will happen in the near future.

here's some concept renders... trying to keep the design aesthetic "redish"
so it's not a sore thumb on the camera. also there will be mounting holes on the
back and sides also possible a mount to attach to the rails.

oh yeah the size is 1/2 the width of what you saw of the prototype.

ABSOLUTELY ... optional accessory perhaps, but definitely PLEASE have pots/control knobs for aperture and focus control !

Thank you for bringing some sanity to us Canon EF folk

Andy,

Busting your backside to get your product out - will DEFINITELY be REWARDED! BIG TIME! Good luck!

P.S. - I put in my reservation, too.

Andy,

Renderings look very good.

Go ahead with it.

"a control knob for the fstop +/- instead of buttons ? "

YES, YES, YES !

Renderings look great!

Will the mount work with Impero? (crossing fingers for a "yes")

Looks good. How will it mount on the RED?

Knobs for focus and iris yes please.

Can you put some protective ridges around the controls and on/off switch to reduce chance of them being moved accidentally, or damaged by knocks?

Maybe recess the display further so it'll be shaded from the sun for better visibility?

Cheers!
Eric

Keep us updated on the IMS inclusion - that would be beyond awesome!

Nice renderings, too. Maybe drop the line with "FSTOP" as "f2.8" is enough. In how many steps can the f-stop be adjusted? 1/2 steps, 1/3 steps, 1/4 steps, 1/xxx steps?

How soon can we purchase a dumb EOS mount?

It's been way too long...

yes... done...

thanks for all the suggestions!, I am modifying the system today to have a dial control of fstop. and a few other design changes. this is why I love this community, this is how all things should be built.. every ones input is so valuable..

oh everyone that has PM'd or emailed me your on the list... I will send out confirmations probably this weekend, just need to get design and circuit changes finished before tomorrow to make prototype/manufacture cutoff times..

andy, are there plans to support the image stabilized lenses? Would that work best with an actual canon body attached?

trick, this lens mount mounts in exactly the same place as the nikon mount. it's not a warranty issue.

Andy,

If you can adapt your design to fit inside or mount directly to the IMS, and if your design rivals the focus control that I witnessed from the Birger at the 08 NAB Reduser party... I'm in.

Shoot, I'll take a shipping dumb mount over a theoretical perfect mount.
