Got a slightly off topic question as I am playing with available footage from online test stuff. I have a workflow that I am having trouble with.
Here is my problem.

1 ingest the r3d using red's apps or proxis or convert via log plug in: resulting in a prores file. in FCP.

Then here is my problem a bunch of shots are green screen which I want to comp in Digital Fusion on the PC.
I found I can open the prores files in Fusion YAY. But.. getting the result back in to color then fcp is where I am running into an issue. IF i could save as prores back on the pc it would rock but you can't. I thought about going
out of fusion as TGA seqs. or some such.. is there a better way?

I want to basically import send to fusion back to color to match the other footage then back into FCP for final output.
Is this the best way?

Here is an example of what i came up with so far...Any thoughts?
Especially if there is an easier way that saves the transcoding.

Red workflow
1a when using red use redcine/Redalert etc. Do 1st color curves then export to file for fcp as prores422 then goto step 2 (log and capture may work here too.

dv workflow
1b ingest dv via firewire as Prores 422

After ingest
2 assemble rough cut in fcp
(add slugs for unfinished footage or 3d footage.)

3 save greenscreen footage and other fx shots to separate files keep as prores 422 send to fusion for comp

4 comp in fusion
bring in lightwave
particle illusion
vue etc.
save as tga sequences (is this the best way!!!!!!!????)

5 all sequences into color for final grading

6 export from color back to fcp or
(it may work to put on timeline then hit the use in color preset button for each clip)*Check on this*

7 Do any titles and Lower 3rd's in motion/livetype

8 assemble final edits music and voice overs bumpers in fcp

9 final overall color grade in color

10 export bluray version and export web version
