  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic...

Modular, eh? Sounds good!

Is the sensor size or resolution changing, Jim?

These were some of the best designs you've ever posted... If it's something like this I'm very happy. Modular is cool, but compact is also nice...

The 100% swap in for RED ONE is such a brilliant idea, it insures the RED ONE against a low used price. (good for RED and good for owners)

On the bad side, it will be hard to trade in a perfectly perfect working RED ONE, I know what I have but I don´t know how a new Epic will behave.

BUT: the last months have been so thrilling - with all the good things the RED ONE has brought, EPIC promises to deliver that all over again, I can´t stand on the sideline and just watch that, gotta be in on it!

Personally I don´t expect the first EPICs to ship until December 28-30th 2009... and only to a very very few... Jim, Offhollywood, Gibby - not Shawn of course as he only has nr 27... :bleh:

The rest of us will probably have to wait well into 2010... I really hope I am wrong on this one though!

I proposed this on another thread for the DSMC. But to have modular face plates with different feature sets. One for the DSLR, and one for the Cinema mode. But each module should offer limited features per opposing modular faceplate. IMO. So if I'm shooting in cinema mode, and want to take a picture of the cast for my poster, I can. With out swaping my faceplates. But to really dig in, you put the DSLR plate on for your photoshoot.

Don't know if this is what it is... But this would be awesome. And I should get a job on the creative team at Red! ;) I'm full of these practical ideas. Just lack the technical expertise.

That above design makes so much sense, it's silly.

As I'm just now getting my One, I actually wasn't caring at all about the Epic. But if Epic winds up like this, ergonomics would be a huge reason for upgrading.

I have to say here that we are having more fun than anyone deserves... we are learning so fast that keeping the program current begs for modular.

Jim

That's what happens when you make cutting edge technology available at decent prices and don't get all mediocre-minded like those big ones.

It's called good karma.

You'll get your Vistavision Tom...

"Epic has Changed"... end of year announcement.. - my nerves Jim... my nerves:)

Now the only thing I know is Epic will get better (You guys always make things better).

- To the people worried about the trade in offer - why should that change? Jim has said full trade in rebate on purchase of an epic - so why should that change because Epic gets an upgrade?

The Epic is the girl I want to dance with, in the mean time Ill settle for her little "chubby" sister Red 1 (besides chubby keeps you warm in the winter, which is good if you live where I live:)
