Hi all,

I just did a little conform using Crimson Workflow, and everything looked fine, except ... the render was two frames longer than the offline ... and this two frames turned into 4 frames the next shot and so on ... has anyone encountered this issue ?
I rendered 10bit DPX and they got transfered to baselight, I did not add any extra frames, or handles on crimson ! so why has it done this ?
any ideas ?
cheers

by the way, my system is a dual quad 3 ghz with 4gb ram, media is on a 2tb fibre 4gb raid, and I am rendering to an internal raid 1.5tb ...

mmmmmmm... weird
kjetil, or jimhare probably will help you...
By the way nice system.
Cheers

I've had this happen before. Did you edit in Final Cut? Are there any dissolves between cuts on the time line? If there are, the XML (EDL List) notes that dissolve and crimson adds the extra frame to cover the dissolve completely. Slide the clips in those extra frames and you'll see they match up perfectly, with handles for the cross dissolve.

In Crimson, under the Redcine Tab, there is a check box "Add Extra Frame for FCP". Uncheck that box and this will probably solve your problem. FCP needs this for the Roundtrip to work properly, which is why it is the default. So if you are straying from the workflow that Ian has laid out, then you will probably want to uncheck this. If it's not this, I'd post the issue on the Crimson forum. Hope this helps.

hello all,
sorry for the delayed reply,
the edit was completley clean, no dissolves just cuts.
And I tried both ways with the option of the xtra frame and without, with no difference,
note that im going into baselight and not fcp for online ! so really it should not matter ?

Your right an extra frame shouldn't matter if you are conforming with another system, and you always will be. But in Crimson you can adjust exactly how many frames are on the start and end of each cut by setting handles to on and setting end frames to any integer value, in your case you want end frames = -1 I think.

I'll look over this and see if it needs cleaning up in 0.9.4, I think with all the bug fixes things might have gotten jumbled.

In case your curious, I'm just really busy with 0.9.5 lately.
